Workshop Agenda

EVALUATION 101

Workshop Overview:

We will go through the key competencies and elements to introduce participants to evaluation concepts. Our Evaluation 101 training covers implementing systems and a structure to set an organization up for success and embed evaluation into their organizational practices. We will highlight the steps involved in creating an evaluation system and prepare participants to begin similar processes in their own organizations that are aligned to their data management plans.

Workshop Objectives:
  • Participants will understand basic evaluation terms and processes, including the four steps of program evaluation.
  • Participants will gain skills to establish clear outcomes and outputs, collect clean data, analyze data, and implement evaluation procedures.

HOW TO CREATE EVALUATION PROCESSES AND PROCEDURES

Workshop Overview:

How to Create Evaluation Processes and Procedures will cover the importance of data systems and procedures and how to develop them. Organizations often struggle with collecting data consistently and reliably and then not knowing what to do with it after they collect it. In this workshop, we will share examples of how to develop processes to ensure consistency in how data is collected, stored, and analyzed. We will also cover the implications of when clients do not have these procedures established.

Workshop Objectives:
  • Participants will understand how an organizational data set was collected that they will review during the workshop.
  • Participants will identify successes and challenges with the procedures used to collect, store, and analyze the data.

USING DATA TO INFORM PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT

Workshop Overview:

Using Data to Inform Program Improvement will focus on helping participants understand how to use their data to inform program improvement. We will discuss how to use the data internally for program improvement, staff development, and other organizational goals. We will also discuss how participants can use their data externally to meet fundraising, communications, advocacy, and partnership goals.

Workshop Objectives:
  • Participants will understand how to use the data their organization collects to assess program effectiveness and determine what program improvements they can make.
  • Participants will understand how they can use their data in their external communications with donors, funders, partners, and other key stakeholders.

BECOMING A DATA-INFORMED ORGANIZATION

Workshop Overview:

Becoming a Data-Informed Organization will help participants understand the why behind using data so they can view data as an asset for shaping next steps instead of simply an obligation to remain compliant. We will cover the four components of becoming a data-informed organization and work on building competency in each area.

Workshop Objectives:
  • Participants will understand the four components of becoming a data-informed organization.
  • Participants will learn how to build competency in each of the four areas.
