NAVPLG Education Program - Neurodiversity in Volunteerism
Join us on March 15, 2023 at 11 am (Pacific) for our next Education Program, "Neurodiversity in Volunteerism." Neurodiverse people are constantly navigating a society that frowns upon mental health. This makes it difficult for them to lead independent lives and have fulfilling careers. However, that does not mean that they do not have anything to bring to the conversation, so to say. In this session, we will address how volunteer managers can make their programs accessible and supportive to neurodiverse volunteers, how to write, post, and recruit inclusive positions, and how to get staff and leaders on board.

Speaker: Sarah Philippe (she/her) is passionate about volunteerism, accessibility, history, and ice cream. She has been in the volunteerism field since 2015 and loves every minute of it. She earned her Certification in Volunteer Administration in 2021 and has completed certificates in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace and Ethical and Inclusive Leadership, both from the University of South Florida Muma College of Business. She has presented Neurodiversity in Volunteerism at several state conferences and professional development webinars. Most recently, she was published in "New Voices and Perspectives in Volunteer Engagement 2023" edited by Erin Spink. In her free time, she likes spending time with her cat, eating ice cream, and playing with her nieces and nephews.
