WATER RESOURCE RECOVERY TECHNICIAN (WRRT) FUTURE LEADER SCHOLARSHIP
- Applicants must:
1) currently possess a valid Michigan Wastewater Operators license and be planning to pursue either a Class B or Class A license, 2) be planning to meet the EGLE educational requirements through an EGLE approved SHE provider, and 3) be members of the MWEA at the time the award is presented.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants may state the amount of financial award they are hoping to receive and indicate how this amount was arrived at (ie. Course Name, Credit Hours, Tuition Costs, Fees, Book Costs, etc.), or the full scholarship amount may be awarded.

Applicants must submit a paper of between 500 and 600 words reflecting their career interests and objectives, and how they envision using their education to enhance water quality.

Applicants must submit a resume showing full and part-time employment, education history and extra-curricular activities, for at least the past five (5) years.

Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from another MWEA member who currently holds a Class A or Class B license. This other member does NOT need to be their supervisor or employer.

Applicants shall include a written plan for how they intend to meet the educational requirements. I.E. list of courses that will be taken.

SELECTION:
- All entries will be judged by a panel representing the diverse membership of the Michigan Water Environment Association. If, in the opinion of the judges, suitable entries are not received, no scholarship may be awarded. In all cases, the opinion of the judges will be final.
AWARD:
- The one year $1,000.00 WRRT – Future Leader Scholarship shall provide one or more scholarships, totaling $4,000.00 annually and shall be awarded at the MWEA Annual Conference. Applicants currently enrolled at a college/university shall receive a check, in their name and the school name, to be used for academic purposes only. Applicants planning to enroll in approved SHE courses shall provide an official receipt from the course after it has been completed as well as copy of successfully completed final exam, to receive reimbursement.
- Scholarship winner shall also be given a complimentary one (1) year membership to the MWEA.
