OGWA Regional Training Meeting THUNDER BAY

Registration open at 8:00 a.m

Course starts promptly at 8:30 am and runs until 5:00 pm with coffee breaks and a 1 hour hot lunch.

Course Topics

8:30 am - Review of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) (approx. 3.5 hrs)

  • Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Regulations for Construction Projects
  • Regulations for Industrial Establishments
  • Knowledge check at the end of presentation
1:00 pm - Water Wells (approx. 3.5 hrs)

Each case study will provide historical examples of how rules and best management practices are interpreted and enforced.  There will be a knowledge check at the end of the presentation.

Case Study 1: Understanding the term “a well’s structural stage is complete”
Case Study 2: Who can and cannot abandon a well
Case Study 3: Reasonable efforts to remove casing from an abandoned well
Case Study 4: Addressing an existing flowing well issue
Case Study 5: Constructing a dry well
Case Study 6: Case studies on naturally occurring gas reporting & mitigating
