Explorations in 3rd Grade Multiplication and Division

Course Description:
  • A critical area of focus for Grade 3 is developing understanding of and strategies for multiplication and division within 100.
  • During this 2-day course, teachers will explore contexts and tasks aligned to the Kentucky Academic Standards for Mathematics designed to support students in their journey toward multiplicative fluency within 100.
  • Participants will receive prepared activities and several books from the series Contexts for Learning: Level 2 (Investigating Multiplication and Division)
Cost$200/participant
Duration: 2 in-person days  
Location: Lexington, KY
  • Participants must be able to participate in-person in Lexington, KY during the dates and times listed below for this cohort. Sessions are not recorded to be watched at a different time.
  • Before registering for this cohort, confirm with your school and district that you will be allowed to participate in sessions with teachers from other schools and districts in-person. COVID-19 safety guidelines in place at the time of the in-person sessions will be followed - this includes mask wearing and social distancing.
  • For any teacher not allowed to - or not comfortable with - attending in-person sessions, The KCM is offering one cohort of this course that will only meet virtually. Please register for that VIRTUAL cohort instead of this in-person cohort.   
  • 2021-22 MAF Teachers are required to complete both in-person days. If unable to attend any of the 2 days, 2021-22 MAF Teachers must contact the KCM to complete that day's training with a different cohort.  
SESSION SCHEDULE FOR THIS IN-PERSON COHORT:
Days 1 & 2 = Two full-day in-person days: Wednesday & Thursday, September 29-30, 2021; 9 am - 4 pm Eastern Time (which is 8 am - 3 pm Central Time) 

Registration for this cohort closes at midnight on Monday, August 2, 2021.  


* Materials will be mailed via UPS directly to each participant’s school. Please be sure to enter your school's physical mailing address when registering (no PO Box numbers) 

Please note: The $200 registration fee for this course is non-refundable once materials have been ordered. Should a registered participant find they are no longer able to attend this event, they should find a teacher to take their place and notify the KCM at kcm@nku.edu.
