Advocacy: Make Your Voice Heard
1/20/2021 - 1/20/2021

Event Description
The elections are over and the 101st legislature has convened.  New and reelected members of the Michigan House were sworn in, committee assignments have been posted and staff members for each office are in place.  Most of these new lawmakers may know very little about Michigan's auto no-fault insurance and the system of care that has been available to accident survivors for over 46 years.  They will likely not understand the devastating impact that recent reforms will have on Michigan families in the years ahead or the healthcare workers rending care.   It is vital we be a resource to these new lawmakers and educate them.  That is why CPAN is holding this FREE advocacy training session.

This virtual Advocacy Training will take place on Wednesday, January 20 from 3:00 PM - 4:30PM  The session will include presentations from legislative coordinator Kevin McKinney and advocacy educator Jean Doss.  They will show us how important to connect with our lawmakers and share our stories.

Everyone is encouraged to attend.  The session is
designed for healthcare providers, auto accident survivors and their families along with caregivers to learn how to maximize the impact of their "stories" to Michigan lawmakers and the media. It is imperative to tell these stories - stories of injuries, struggles, triumphs - to "Let Our Voices Be Heard" to those who can become champions of our cause. The training provided in this session will help all attendees overcome the barriers to effective grassroots advocacy by demystifying the legislative process, knowing when and why to act, and learning how to tell their stories with concise, persuasive messages to legislators and members of the media.

Space is limited and you must register to receive the Zoom Meeting link to attend.

Registrants will be sent the link and instructions to participate prior to the event.
