WORKSHOP COMPONENTS:
This three-day workshop series provides an overview of evidence-based cognitive behavioral strategies that can be utilized for the treatment of young patients with suicide-related ideation and/or behaviors. Participants will learn about basic cognitive behavioral strategies for structuring sessions – including setting a collaborative agenda, assigning action plan(s), and eliciting feedback. Participants will become familiar with Dr. Aaron Beck’s cognitive model for suicide as a framework for conceptualizing and treating their patients. Emphasis will be placed on specific techniques of intervention (e.g., assisting patients with the suicide narrative, building skills such as modifying unhelpful thoughts, problem solving, instilling hope, planning for safety, and preventing relapse). Various intervention procedures will be explained and demonstrated. Attendees will receive copies of exercises and informative handouts.
WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE AFTER COMPLETION OF THE WORKSHOP:
After completion of this 3-day workshop, you will receive a certificate of attendance (this is not a CBT certification course, as that is an extensive process) and a separate CEU certificate.
