Training Description:
 
Learn who, what, where, when and how to create a safety plan to support a person at risk of suicide.  Build confidence in counseling on access to lethal means and practice your skills in a supportive learning environment.
 
Learning Objectives
  • Describe what a safety plan is, how and when to utilize it with a person at risk of suicide
  • Learn the components and how to complete the steps of a safety plan
  • Increase knowledge about the association between access to lethal means and suicide, and the role of counseling on access to lethal means in safety planning
  • Increase skills and confidence to work with people and their families to complete a safety plan and reduce their access to lethal means.
Per our grant funding, this opportunity is intended for providers who work with youth between the ages of 10-24 in some clinical capacity

Training services will be performed by the Zero Suicide Institute for the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation.

Trainer:

Laurin Jozlin, LMSW, Senior Project Associate at the Zero Suicide Institute

 

Laurin Jozlin is a licensed clinical social worker with 10 years of experience in suicide prevention, suicide intervention, community mental health, and child and adolescent mental health. She brings expertise in evidence-based practices, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and strengths-based treatment. She is dedicated to using training and evidence-based interventions to improve people’s lives.

Jozlin is a project director and provides technical assistance for Zero Suicide Institute at EDC. Previously, she was a clinical administrator at a community mental health agency outside Detroit, Michigan. She also has experience as a therapist working with children and families.

For over two years, Jozlin served as a member of the Michigan Suicide Prevention Commission.

Jozlin holds an MSW and a BA in Social Work from Michigan State University.

REGISTRATION FEE: $15.00   

Registration includes beverages, light snack and CEU's, if required.
 
3.5 CEs for Ohio Counselors, Social Workers, and Psychologists will be provided after completion of the training. 

Refund requests will only be honored on or before March 14, 2024.
