Event Description
Past, Present, and Promise: Honoring Legacy, Amplifying Humanity
Colorado-NAME Conference

Friday ♦ September 25, 2026 ♦ 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Adams 12 Five Star Schools ♦ 1500 E 128th Ave ♦ Thornton, CO 80241

Rooted in the legacy of multicultural education, this theme honors the foundations that have shaped our work while engaging the realities educators face today. We invite reflection, coalition-building, and action-oriented ideas on how history, identity, and community inform responsive practices in an increasingly complex educational landscape. Presentations at this conference will explore culturally responsive leadership, social-emotional learning, restorative practices, trauma-informed approaches, and meaningful family and community engagement. Together, these conversations highlight how brave spaces and responsive schools can sustain belonging and equity to fulfill the promise of ensuring opportunity and access for every student, now and for generations to come.

Overview & Vision

We stand at a critical juncture in education. To move forward effectively, we must look back with gratitude, look inward with honesty, and look forward with determination. The Colorado Chapter of the National Association of Multicultural Education invites educators, community members, and researchers to guide us on this path.

This year’s theme, "Past, Present, and Promise: Honoring Legacy, Amplifying Humanity," is a call to action. Presentations will move beyond theory into practice and engage deeply with the complex realities facing Colorado schools today, and build a "promise" of equity that ensures opportunity, access, and belonging for every student.

The mission of CO-NAME is to promote and support multicultural education as a
