Event Description
We are excited to invite you to attend the Build an Escape Room Workshop at the Northfield Inn, Suites, and Conference Center in Springfield, Illinois on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Training will start at 9:00AM. Registration will be open at 8:00AM.
There is no charge for the training, however, we are charging $25 per person for facility fees, breaks and lunch.
This interactive workshop walks participants through the process of designing and building an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) escape room as a hands-on training tool. The session begins with a live demonstration of an EOC escape room, allowing attendees to experience firsthand how puzzles, time pressure, and information flow replicate real EOC dynamics. Participants will then break down the design components—learning how to translate plans, ICS roles, and operational objectives into clues, injects, and success criteria aligned with HSEEP and EMAP standards. By the end of the workshop, attendees will leave with a repeatable blueprint for creating their own EOC escape room that strengthens coordination, situational awareness, and decision-making in any emergency management environment.
Participants will leave with a clear, step-by-step methodology for designing and facilitating an EOC escape room as an effective training and exercise tool. They will gain practical insights into translating emergency plans, ICS roles, and coordination processes into puzzles and time-bound decision points that test real operational skills. Attendees will also learn key lessons from implementation, including common design pitfalls, facilitation techniques, and how to capture performance data and lessons learned for after-action reporting. By the end of the session, participants will have tangible takeaways they can immediately adapt to build and run an EOC escape room within their own organization.
Victoria Kluge is an Emergency Program Administrator with the City of Atlanta Department of Aviation, supporting emergency preparedness, planning, training, and EOC operations at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Her work focuses on modernizing airport emergency management through data analytics, performance metrics, and innovative exercise design aligned with FAA, EMAP, and HSEEP standards. She is known for developing gamified and scenario-driven training approaches that strengthen decision-making, coordination, and operational readiness across complex airport environments. Victoria holds a Master’s degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Security and regularly presents on preparedness analytics, exercises, and operational readiness in aviation settings.
