Event Description
We are excited to invite you to attend the Traffic Incident Management training at the Northfield Inn, Suites, and Conference Center in Springfield, Illinois on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Training will start at 10:00AM. Registration will be open at 9:00AM.
There is no charge for the training, however, we are charging $25 per person for facility fees, breaks and lunch.
Traffic Incident Management (TIM) consists of a planned and coordinated multi-disciplinary process to detect, respond to, and clear traffic incidents so that traffic flow may be restored as safely and quickly as possible. Effective TIM reduces the duration and impacts of traffic incidents and improves the safety of motorists, crash victims and emergency responders.
This 4-hour course includes participants from all disciplines involved in incident management and is the first multi- disciplinary class of its kind in Illinois. The goal is to provide responders with information and best practices that improve their safety at roadway incident scenes. TIM classes are free of charge.
This training course is approved for 4 hours of EMS continuing education units by the Illinois Department of Public Health. Please ask for the course site code certificate after completion. As of June 2022, this training also meets ILETSB State Mandates for Law Enforcement: Civil Rights .5-hours, Constitutional/proper use of LE Authority .50 hours, Emergency Medical Response Training and Certification 1-hour, Legal Updates 1-hour, Procedural Justice 1-hour, and Lead Homicide Investigator 4-hours. Class also meets Illinois State Fire Marshal Basic Operations Firefighter certification for Traffic Incident Management.
