2027 DERBY 80th OCLTC DERBY – Tropic Star Lodge, Panama

On behalf of the Ocean City Light Tacke Club I am pleased to announce that the 80^th OCLTC Derby
We will be returning to Panama June 5^th, 2027 – June 10^th, 2027.
 
Location:
For those of you that have never experienced Tropic Star Lodge, it is a bucket list trip. Tropic Star Lodge has provided the ultimate in offshore and inshore fishing adventures for our guests for the past 60+ years. It has been named “the best fishing resort in the world.” The location is 150 miles southeast of Panama City in the pristine, remote Darien jungle; Tropic Star Lodge has more fishing world records than any other resort. Derby Format:
The 80th Derby will consist of 3 out of 4 fishing days, one of four days will be a day of leisure. That can include either fish, hike, spa, an adventure or any other activity at the lodge. (One of the four days we will not be derby fishing.)
 
We will be fishing 3 anglers per boat targeting Pacific Sailfish using 20# “High Viz” tournament grade line that will be supplied to each participant prior to the event. Eight boats, all of which are identical, have been secured. Anglers will be taken on a first come, first served basis with a maximum of 24. Additions beyond the maximum of 24 will only occur in groups of 3, provided the quality of boat, accommodations are consistent and availability exists.  
 
Accommodations - All rooms are consistent for all participants at the lodge.
Classic rooms have been included for all participants. Beautiful bay views are available from all the rooms, and all have balconies. All rooms also have picture windows and air conditioning. There are 2 queen size beds in each with an en-suite bathroom.

Social Events:
There will be a casual cocktail hour after arrival, and every afternoon after fishing there will be appetizers and drinks at the pool bar. Other events will also be planned. Enjoy a cerveza or margarita and share your fish stories with your friends.
  
Getting There:
All flights from home should arrive at the Panama airport on June 4th (i.e. 1 day prior to your arrival day at Tropic Star).

Flights to the resort from Panama City leave for the jungle first thing in the morning on Saturday June 5^th. Reservations will be coordinated on your behalf but payment for the night is direct to the hotel. It is also common to stay the night in Panama City and leave first thing the following morning back to the United States.

The derby includes:

 **Please remember that your derby registration is not complete until your payment is received.  The order of signup is based on your completed registration (with payment).**

Can I arrive early? Can I upgrade my room?
Yes, yes and yes
Beginning February 1^st (and not before) a call to the lodge would be appropriate.
