About the Event: This presentation focuses on describing how trauma-informed and culturally competent forensic assessment, particularly the use of objective medical evidence evaluations completed at overlapping clinics at the University of Denver, assists marginalized Veterans in obtaining the resources and benefits they deserve and have been denied due to discrimination-based trauma. Further, these assessments provide needed forensic evidence to the Department of Veteran Affairs related to racial and identity-based trauma, along with the lasting effects of such trauma on the individual’s social, relational, cognitive, emotional and behavioral functioning.
