The core goal is to prepare mediators to help separating families create or modify Parenting Plans due to life changes.

What You Will Learn

The curriculum implements diverse methods, including presentations, videos, and covers Nebraska's specific statutes and ethical standards. The training uses realistic role-plays for both private and joint sessions.

Curriculum Essentials

  • Parenting Plans & Development: Focusing on child and family development principles.
  • Domestic Violence (Key Section): Techniques for screening inappropriate cases (domestic violence/child abuse) and managing power dynamics.
  • Mediation process overview, emotional dynamics, and state referral resources.
  • Coverage of property, finance, and child support, though the core focus is on parenting skills.

Hands-on Practice

You will participate in several simulated mediation role-plays. These sessions include personalized feedback from experienced mediators/coaches at an excellent 4:1 role-player-to-coach ratio.
