Being a strong advocate for financial aid programs in your state is an important skill to develop. Knowing how and when to engage elected officials can help alleviate regulatory burden, protect vital financial aid programs, and create stable funding for our students.

This session will provide tips and techniques to effectively engage elected officials. We will cover the basics of effective lobbying, which include: gathering information, understanding legislative targets, making contact with legislators, and how to coordinate individual efforts across teams. You will walk away with the basic tools to identify an issue, frame it, and get it in front of the people who can address it.
