Speaker:   
Scott Jackson, MS, CCC-SLP is a speech language pathologist at NorthBay Health Medical Center in the ENT Department. He currently specializes in voice disorders, dysphagia, and oral dysfunction/TMJ issues. He graduated from University of Arizona with his Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology with a minor in Psychology. He has been working as a Speech-Language Pathologist for over 30 years across the continuum of care with all different ages and diagnoses. He is retired from teaching at CA State Universities (Sacramento and San Jose) after teaching the “Dysphagia & the SLP in the Medical Setting” class at Sacramento State for 16 years and “Neuroanatomy” and “Adult Communication Disorders” at San Jose State.for 4 years.

Course Description: This course will define the various aspects of vocal cord dysfunction and explore etiologies, coexisting factors, assessment, and treatment.  Assessment and treatment will be include both physiological and psychological aspects of vocal cord dysfunction. Focus of the presentation will be directed towards tools and techniques to utilize immediately in their clinical settings.  
 
Learning Outcomes:
  1. Define vocal cord dysfunction and differentiate between it and Induced Laryngeal Obstruction.
  2. Identify potential etiologies and coexisting factors that contribute to vocal cord dysfunction VCD
  3. Demonstrate Breathing technique to physiologically treat vocal cord dysfunction.
  4. Explain ways to address and manage psychological impact on vocal cord dysfunction..
  5. Describe the effect of vocal cord dysfunction on the voice.

Refund Policy
Refund requests must be submitted in writing via email. Requests made more than 10 business days prior to course date will be subject to an administration fee of $15 of the registration fee if an additional cost is associated with the course.  Membership fees will not be refunded if member is not able to attend conferences that are included with annual fee.  Refund requests made less than 10 business days prior to any course that requires an additional fee for the course are subject to a $25 administrative fee.  This is to cover the costs associated with the course that have already been accrued based on preregistration.  No refunds for non-attendance will be issued on the day of, or after, the conference.

Cancellation Policy
If MSCC cancels a course that requires an additional registration fee, all members who have prepaid for the course will be refunded the registration fee in the form of the original payment within 30 business days of the cancellation of the course.   MSCC membership fee will not be refunded.
