Plant Description: The South Huron Valley Wastewater System is located in southern Wayne County and serves approximately 90,000 residents from 8 neighboring communities. The WWTP is owned and operated by South Huron Valley Utility Authority as of 1999. The WWTP is an A/O biological phosphorus removal plant constructed in 1986 and has been expanded and upgraded multiple times since. The plants average daily flow is 10 MGD with a maximum hydraulic flow of 55 MGD. The simplified treatment sequence includes influent screening, grit removal, primary clarifiers, aeration basins, secondary clarifiers, and sodium hypochlorite disinfection. A few key features we’ll discuss during the tour include the newly constructed headcell grit removal system, submerged effluent landers and Lystek thermal hydrolysis process.

MIXER Address: JP's Waterfront, 13200 Middle Gibraltar Rd, Gibraltar, MI 48173
