NWAFP is excited to announce that it will host a panel discussion on the topic "What Keeps Treasury Departments Up at Night?" This event is designed to provide insights into the challenges and concerns that Treasury teams face in today's dynamic financial landscape. The discussion will cover a range of topics, including risk management, regulatory changes, technological advancements, and the impact of global economic trends on treasury operations. Our panelists, who are experts in the field, will share their experiences and strategies for navigating these challenges.

About our panelists:


Chris Malins


Chris Malins has served as Vice President for Finance & Business Affairs and Chief Financial Officer of Seattle University since the summer of 2023. In this role, he oversees the finance and facilities areas of the University, including the Budget, Treasury, Controller, and Capital Projects areas.
 
Previously, he served for over three decades at the University of Washington, most recently as Associate Vice President for Treasury. He was responsible for Asset Liability Management, Treasury and Banking Operations, Investor Relations, and Financial Forecasting. These units manage the University’s debt portfolio, operations and accounting for debt, endowment, operating funds, institutional proformas, student outreach, and engagement in socially responsible investing.
 
Mr. Malins also held positions in grant and student accounting before moving to the Treasury office in 1999. He holds a degree in finance from the University of Washington with an additional concentration in accounting. He is a CPA (inactive).
 
Mr. Malins has served on many Boards over his career and is currently the Board Chair of the Treasury Institute for Higher Education.



Mary Desmond

Mary’s career spans 30 years of financial leadership, including two decades as cash manager at The Seattle Times. She has helped lead a variety of financial systems overhauls and overseen the introduction of numerous payment processes. Before joining Sealaska to direct financial operations, Mary served as treasury manager at Zulily and, later, Starbucks. She holds an MBA with a concentration in finance from Seattle University.



Vidhi Jain

Vidhi is the Treasurer at Qualtrics with 16+ years of overall Treasury/Finance experience. She has played various impactful roles in all aspects of Treasury Finance. Currently, she leads Treasury at Qualtrics and manages liquidity / cash management, investments, FX and capital markets. Prior to Qualtrics, she worked with Nordstrom and Microsoft corporate treasury teams. She also has several years of experience as a banking Treasury head before she joined the corporate treasury roles. She is an MBA and Engineer from leading institutes in India. She lives in Redmond with her husband and two kids for the last nine years.
