The City of Escanaba is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Distribution Lead Worker in the Water/Wastewater Department. This position plans, performs, and supervises water distribution projects and system maintenance requirements as well as supervise and coordinate work crews.
The position requires a high school diploma with three (3) years experience in a water utility or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess and maintain the S-2 water distribution certification from the Michigan Department of Environment Quality, within 1 year of hire. Within 6 months of date of hire, employee must possess and maintain a Class A CDL license with tanker endorsement. Possess and maintain a Michigan Pesticide Certification with sub class core and right-a-way categories within six (6) months of hire.
Candidates who possess the requisite qualifications and experience, but are licensed in another state, are encouraged to apply. In the event a candidate with an out of state license is hired, he or she will be required to test for, and obtain, Michigan licensing at the earliest available testing date. Candidates who are not currently licensed in Michigan must be familiar with all Michigan licensing requirements and must articulate the path to licensure at the time an interview is granted.
Starting pay is $25.45 per hour with a competitive fringe benefits package. Qualifications:

Comments:
- Set daily work priorities and objectives. Coordinate equipment use.
- Organize and initiate assigned projects such as hydrant service and water main repair, collection system repair and new construction.
- Investigate complaints regarding facilities and services and inspect routine projects in process to assure conformance with work standards and safety practices.
- Maintain both written and electronic records of equipment use and materials expenditures
- Help maintain the City GIS program for water distribution system as well as the wastewater collection system.
- Supervise the purchase and storage of materials and tools.
-Make assignments, participate in, train, and organize assigned work crews.
-Process work orders and time sheets for scheduling work.
-Oversee, plan, and execute projects; such as installing water mains, services, fire hydrants, street and lawn restoration.
-Perform related work as required
