Details:
The Forestry Supervisor is responsible for directing the maintenance of City owned trees on
street right of ways, parks, cemeteries, well fields, preserves and other City properties.
Supervises staff and has oversight of contractors performing work on or around City trees.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
• Investigates and prioritizes requests for the servicing of City trees.
• Monitors and evaluates the health and vigor of City owned trees and recommends action
to address disease, pest concerns, construction impacts, etc.
• Answers inquiries of the public relating to forestry operations.
• Supervises, assigns work, instructs, and participates in the activities of municipal and
seasonal workers engaged in planting, trimming, and trees and shrub removal.
• Establishes proper safety precautions for the Forestry crew and ensures that they are
followed.
• Oversees tree planting and maintenance, including specifying number of trees to be
ordered, determining the proper tree varieties to plant, and designating areas to be
planted.
• Communicates with other entities regarding tree status including Advisor Boards,
politicians, utilities, universities and volunteers.
• Develops specifications for bidding and contracting of tree maintenance activities.
• Performs record keeping duties and prepares paperwork including time-sheets, work
orders, service requests, daily production reports, weekly accomplishments, damage
reports and employee performance reviews.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications:
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma with a minimum of three (3) years of technical expertise in a related
field required.
• Five (5) years' experience in urban forestry, including hazardous tree/pest/disease
identification and treatment, tree planting, trimming, and removal.
• Previous supervisory experience required.
• Arborist certification preferred. (Will be required to obtain within three (3) years).
• Strong, clear communicator, and excellent interpersonal skills; proven ability to effectively
and positively communicate with the public and all levels within the organization.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency, prioritizes well, shows energy, responds to
opportunities, instills urgency in others, and meets deadlines.
• Strong organizational and multi-tasking and skills.


Comments:
SALARY: $50,000.00 - $71,000.00 Annually
