Grand Rapids Community College, along with its partners, the City of Grand Rapids and the Grand Valley Metro Council, are seeking individuals to provide training in the Water Environment Federation (WEF)’s National Green Infrastructure Certification program. Green infrastructure (GI) refers to managing stormwater where it falls by restoring or handling the natural flow of water through rain gardens, creek daylighting, permeable pavements, and other tactics. As utilities and municipalities embrace the many environmental advantages of implementing green infrastructure, there is also opportunity for job creation, especially in for economically disadvantaged communities. The program promotes green infrastructure construction, inspection, and maintenance jobs by creating national, industry-specific standards. This position is not full time and trainers will work with the College to schedule training dates and times.

Qualifications:
All NGICP approved trainers must possess two of the following three qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in water resource management or environmental science
- Minimum 35 hours of experience as a trainer for hands-on, adult learning courses
- Direct experience in stormwater green infrastructure (GI) construction, inspection, or
maintenance.

GRCC Additional Trainer Requirements:
- Must be a certified instructor of the NGI program.*
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required (see details above).
- Clear evidence of sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills, as well as computer skills for electronic and written communication.
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Must have the ability to travel to various sites in west Michigan.


Comments:
This is a contingent position (No benefits).
Position pays between $20-$30/hr. based on qualifications and experience.
*Note: GRCC will provide train the trainer certification at no cost to successful candidates.
