It’s an exciting time to be at the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA)! GLWA employs hundreds of technical and administrative staff, all working to ensure effective wastewater treatment and to provide our award-winning drinking water to more than 80 wholesale customers in Michigan.
We are looking for Management Professionals - Asset Management and Capital Improvement, who will be responsible for planning, leading, organizing, controlling and executing various projects and tasks for a unit. This position will be responsible for creating and maintaining standard methodologies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely deliverables. As a Management Professional you may work independently or with a team to achieve operational efficiencies. You will assist the Planning Services area with the development, implementation, and management of the GLWA enterprise-wide asset management program and Capital Improvement Program (CIP). You will demonstrate and utilize principles and industry standard methodologies in asset management and preventive/predictive maintenance techniques to improve the overall reliability for the assets, equipment, and systems operated and maintained by GLWA.
You will utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), asset management systems, and other computer operating systems and software in support of improving operations, maintenance, and reliability of GLWA assets.
In this role you will develop, implement, and manage infrastructure asset management registry and inventory database for GLWA.
The Asset Management and Capital Improvement Planning Professional will understand, develop and follow processes and procedures to collect relevant information for decision-making in capital planning for GLWA asset management, asset renewal or asset replacement.
Your responsibility will include the development, analysis, and execution of condition assessments or asset management related programs, asset life cycle cost analysis, operation and maintenance strategies, level of service evaluations, risk/criticality prioritization, rehabilitation or replacement strategies, CMMS or other system software projects, CIP business case evaluations, and tracking of the CIP real progress.
Responsibilities include
Establish and maintain relationships with internal/external clients, vendors and all other partners
Build and maintain processes and procedures consistent with standard methodologies, federal, state and local laws
Achieve operational efficiencies by forecasting requirements, contributing information and presenting recommendations
Identify and implement process improvements, staff training needs, and new technology
Analyze variances and initiate corrective actions needed to ensure timely completion of assigned projects
Prepare and generate documentation to support audit requirements
Support the Unit Director and/or Manager with administrative duties, team coordination, and communications
Provide analyses, performance indicators, and reports for the management team, board, committees, and all other stakeholders
Stay current with industry trends by participating in educational opportunities and professional/community organizations
Follow security and safety policies and procedures in carrying out work duties
Prepare and present status reports to management as needed
Respond to all requests for project information
Coordinate meetings and tasks with other units across the organization
Develop, install, test and monitor systems including software applications, conversions and upgrades monitoring
Perform related work duties as assigned
Provide on the job training

Qualifications:
Required Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in related operational or functional field such as Business Administration, Engineering
Five years of recent management and/or operational experience gained through progressively more responsible positions in the utility industry
Asset Management and Capital Improvement Planning Specialty Designation only: Education requirement can be substituted with extensive experience in one or more of the following areas: utility asset management, public works/utility operations and maintenance, utility information and management systems, planning, administration, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, construction administration and engineering management, engineering project management; or at the discretion of the GLWA Chief Executive Officer and Organizational Development Unit.

Valid Michigan Driver’s License
Ability to commute to GLWA facilities and work sites
