It’s an exciting time to be at the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA)! GLWA employs hundreds of technical and administrative staff, all working to ensure effective wastewater treatment and to provide our award-winning drinking water to more than 80 wholesale customers in Michigan.

We are looking for Maintenance Technicians to repair and maintain tools and other equipment associated with installations; performs required routine preventative and predictive maintenance and other related work in Field services, Water and Wastewater Plant operations.

Responsibilities (not all inclusive)
• Millwright, or Plumber or Carpenter experience preferred
• Maintain electrical distribution, pumping, mechanical and chemical equipment
• Rebuild and dismantle pumps
• Complete repairs of heavy equipment and machinery
• Perform alignments of equipment
• Complete valve repairs
• Perform routine preventative maintenance
• Perform rigging, welding, cutting, machinery alignment
• Complete predictive and preventative maintenance
• Perform machinery alignment with pumps and motors
• Perform plumbing and pipe fitting
• Perform shift work which includes all day, afternoon, night, weekend and holiday assignments
• Regularly inspect the working condition and maintain the cleanliness of equipment and surrounding areas
• Replace and repair major equipment and tools
• Collect and analyze process and performance data used to diagnose, repair and perform preventive maintenance of water equipment
• Print reading
• Perform tests and report results
• Maintain various records and prepare reports
• Prepare specifications for new equipment
• Must have ability to work outside in inclement weather
• Follow security and safety policies and procedures in carrying out work duties
• Perform work related duties as assigned
• The Maintenance Technician - Level 3 may be required to perform team coordination activities within the functional unit
• Provide on the job training





Qualifications:
Required Education & Experience
• High School or GED
• Michigan S4 or F4 license within two (2) years of level 1 designation

Knowledge of:
• Computer Maintenance Management System
• Procurement/purchasing, receiving, warehouse/inventory, and service contracting procedures and applications/systems
• Tools, methods, materials and practices used in repairing heavy machinery and equipment including some familiarity with methods and equipment used in moving heavy objects

Other Requirements:
• Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s License
• Valid CDL-A
• This position is subject to random drug and alcohol testing
