POSITION SUMMARY: This is skilled work in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of specialized plant machinery and equipment. The employee performs various maintenance and repair tasks in a municipal utility treatment plant. Work requires skill in the use of hand and bench tools, and a good knowledge of the operation of the plant machinery and equipment to which assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Repair and overhaul equipment.
2. Shop work including: welding, grinding, cutting, drilling, and machining.
3. Perform carpentry, cement and other work.
4. Construct devices for temporary operations and for permanent additions or extensions to the treatment plant or equipment.
5. Operate motor vehicles such as: front-end loader, truck, jeep, tractor, lawn mower, etc.
6. Plow snow, paint, yard work, etc.
7. Performance of preventive maintenance duties and basic instrumentation maintenance.
8. Performs building maintenance work including: cleaning, painting, electrical, plumbing and structural repairs as required.
9. Attend training sessions and schools.
10. Maintain pumping stations and equipment.


Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of the standard practices and skill with tools and equipment of the painting, building carpentry, plumbing, electrical, machinist, and welding trades. Above average skill and knowledge in at least one trade.
• Knowledge of varied heavy utility plant equipment and machinery, and of hazards and safety precautions of plant operation.
• Ability to work from sketches and blue prints.
• Ability to detect and locate flaws in operating equipment and to determine proper corrective measures.
• Ability to lay out, assign and supervise the work of others.
• Experience and skill in the operation, repair, and maintenance of heavy duty pumping and related treatment equipment.
• Graduation from a standard high school or trade school.
• Special training and experience in mechanical and building trades, prefer license in electrical, plumbing or certification in a recognized building trade or technology.
• Prefer some computer knowledge.

The City of Wyoming is accepting applications for a qualified individual to fill the position of Utility Maintenance II with emphases in industrial electrical skills at its Clean Water Plant in Wyoming. Duties include electrical installation, instrumentation, controls, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of electrical equipment along with mechanical equipment installation, repair and preventative maintenance. Applicant must hold at a minimum a Journeyman Electrician License, experience and knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC, ControlLogix, and VFDs. In addition to the electrical requirements this applicant should have knowledge of wastewater treatment systems, a strong background in repairs and maintenance in an industrial facility, including pumps, pneumatic controls, plumbing, or HVAC.
