WASFAA Statement of Solidarity
In this time of national mourning and outrage, our hearts go out to the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and to the countless other victims of racial violence. These murders and subsequent public outcry have made it critically important for our country to
acknowledge and commit to dismantling the systems of oppression that have historically torn apart communities of color.
Have you ever thought that you might like to contribute to this newsletter? Well now is your chance! Don't forget that articles can be submitted by any member of WASFAA and we would love to hear from you! Please complete this form and I will be sure to get it out. A Message from our President
Anthony Morrone
Director of Financial Aid
Nevada State College
June is here, although to be honest I only know that because I saw the date on my phone and reflexively flipped the page of my calendar this morning. (It’s a wine calendar from the dollar store, and this month’s varietal pun reads, “Everyone needs a Riesling to be cheerful!”) If this were the June 2020 I had planned on living, I would be at the beautiful campus of Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, mingling with more than a hundred financial aid administrators from around the region in attendance at the Sister Dale Brown Summer Institute.
With the Sister Dale Brown Summer Institute (SDBSI) cancelled this year, we wanted to continue to honor the legacy of its namesake, Sister Dale Brown. Take a moment to read a short bio of this incredible and inspiring person.
