2018 Innovative Program Award Nomination Form
NOMINATIONS ARE NOW OPEN FOR 2018!

The Innovative Program Award honors the outstanding achievements of a local government program in their creation and implementation of a program/service, which utilizes volunteers to creatively serve both their local government and their community. Membership in NAVPLG is required to be considered for this award.

The award will be presented at the NAVPLG Annual Meeting during the National Conference on Volunteering and Service in Atlanta, Georgia, June 18-20.

The winner will also receive a plaque and a complimentary membership into NAVPLG for the coming year.

Nominations accepted through Monday, April 16, 2018.


Innovative Program Award Purpose: The NAVPLG Innovative Program Award was established to honor the outstanding achievements of a local government program in their creation and implementation of a program/service, which utilizes volunteers to creatively serve both their local government and their community. The winner of the award will receive a plaque and a complimentary membership into NAVPLG for the coming year. The award will be given at the NAVPLG Annual Meeting held at NCVS. Winners will be notified. Eligibility: The program/service must be part of a formally established volunteer program of a city, county, township, borough, parish or other local government entity in the United States. The program/service must focus on a specific issue of local government. The program/service should help educate and/or reinforce the importance of volunteer programs in local government. Membership in NAVPLG is required to be considered for this award. Award Criteria: The following criteria will be utilized in reviewing and judging the nomination.
- COMMUNITY NEEDS  The program/service must address an unmet need of local government.
- INNOVATION  Activities should reflect innovative or unique approaches to solving problems specific to local government.
- MOBILIZATION  The nominated program/service should result in or present opportunities for utilizing volunteers in other local government activities.
- ACHIEVEMENT  The nomination must reflect actual accomplishments achieved through the program/service.
- REPLICATION  The nominated program should be easily replicable. A narrative statement of not more than 500 words describing the nominated program/service and demonstrating how the program/service is specific to local government must accompany all nomination forms. Supplementary material may be submitted electronically to leigh.kottwitz@CoMo.gov to be added to the nomination. These materials may include letters, testimonials, news clippings, pamphlets, etc. Submitted materials become the property of NAVPLG.

One Volunteer Administrator of a Community Based Organization
One Local Government Official
One Invited Judge (Can be someone outside of the field of volunteerism at the invitation of the committee)
