Community Collaboration Award
Award Description:
The Community Collaboration Award honors a NAVPLG member or their affiliated government agency that has demonstrated outstanding leadership in fostering meaningful public-private partnerships to engage volunteers in addressing critical local issues. This award highlights initiatives that exemplify the power of collaboration in improving community well-being, especially in areas such as public health, education, environmental sustainability, and social equity through volunteerism.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible, nominees must:
- Be a NAVPLG member or a government agency/Tribal Nation affiliated with a NAVPLG member.
- Be actively involved in a community partnership that incorporates volunteer engagement as a central strategy.
- Demonstrate collaboration with one or more external entities (e.g., nonprofits, businesses, educational institutions, civic groups).
- Show a measurable impact on local quality of life through the initiative.
- Have not received this award in the past three years.
Nomination Process & What to Expect
To submit a nomination, complete the online form, which includes:

- Name of NAVPLG Member or Government Agency
- Program/Initiative Name (if applicable)
- Government Entity Type (Select one: Federal, State, Local, Tribal Nation, U.S. Territory, Public College/University, Public K-12 School District, Military Institution, Public Special Purpose District, or Contracted NGO)
- Name and Title of Key Contact Person (typically the NAVPLG member)
- Is the key contact a current member of NAVPLG? (Yes/No)
- Names of Partnering Organizations (nonprofits, schools, businesses, etc.)
Award Criteria Questions
- Describe the collaborative initiative and the role of volunteers. (Provide an overview of the project, including the goals, structure, and how volunteers were involved. 500-word limit)
- Who were the key collaborators, and how were partnerships developed and sustained? (Include names/types of partners and how responsibilities, resources, or outcomes were shared. 400-word limit)
- What were the most significant community issues addressed by this initiative? (Focus on areas such as public health, education, sustainability, or equity. 300-word limit)
- What measurable impact has the initiative had on the community? (Include specific data, stories, or evidence demonstrating improvement in quality of life. 400-word limit)
- How does this collaboration model innovation or best practice in volunteer engagement? (Describe elements of creativity, sustainability, or replicability. 400-word limit)
- How does this initiative align with NAVPLG’s core pillars: Leadership, Education, Advocacy, Networking, and Information Exchange? (Explain how these principles were reflected in the collaboration. 300-word limit)
- Why should this initiative receive the Community Collaboration Award? (Summarize its uniqueness, relevance, and long-term value to the community. 500-word limit)

Nominations must be submitted by the specified deadline. Applications will be reviewed by a judging panel consisting of NAVPLG Board members, volunteer administrators, government representatives, and invited experts.
