Lifetime Achievement Award
Award Description:
The Lifetime Achievement Award is NAVPLG’s highest individual honor. It celebrates an individual who has dedicated their career to advancing volunteer engagement within government and public service. The recipient has made significant, lasting contributions to the profession of volunteer administration, serving as a visionary leader, advocate, and mentor whose legacy continues to shape the field.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible, nominees must:
- Be a current or former NAVPLG member. (The Board of Directors may consider Non-NAVPLG members or individuals who have led nationwide or international efforts in volunteer engagement.)
- ​Have 15 or more years of experience in volunteer administration within a government setting.
- Have made a significant, long-term impact on the field of volunteer engagement.
- Not have previously received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
- May be retired or currently serving in the field.

- Government Entity Type (Select one: Federal, State, Local, Tribal Nation, U.S. Territory, Public College/University, Public K-12 School District, Military Institution, Public Special Purpose District, or Contracted NGO)
- Years of Experience in Volunteer Administration (Minimum 15 years required)
- Years of Experience in Government-Related Volunteer Management
- Is the nominee retired? (yes/no)
- NAVPLG Membership Status (if known)
Award Criteria Questions
- Describe the nominee’s overall career in volunteer administration. (Include a narrative of their experience, positions held, and areas of focus. 500-word limit)
- How has the nominee demonstrated sustained leadership and impact in the field of volunteerism? (Provide specific accomplishments that illustrate their influence and legacy. 500-word limit)
- What significant contributions has the nominee made to advancing volunteer engagement in government? (Examples may include systems development, policy creation, organizational change, or community partnerships. 400-word limit)
- How has the nominee embodied NAVPLG’s core pillars: Leadership, Education, Advocacy, Networking, and Information Exchange? (Describe alignment with one or more pillars. 400-word limit)
- List any additional community or volunteer contributions outside their professional role. (250-word limit.)
- Why should this nominee receive the Lifetime Achievement Award? (Summarize their achievements in a compelling statement. 500-word limit.)

Nominations must be submitted by the specified deadline. Applications will be reviewed by a judging panel consisting of NAVPLG Board members, volunteer administrators, government representatives, and invited experts.
