New Volunteer Professional Award
Award Description:
The New Volunteer Professional Award recognizes a NAVPLG member with three or fewer years of experience in volunteer administration who has demonstrated exceptional promise, leadership, and dedication to the field. This award honors individuals whose primary responsibility involves volunteer leadership and who exemplify NAVPLG’s core pillars: Leadership, Education, Advocacy, Networking, and Information Exchange.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible, nominees must:
- Be a current NAVPLG member.
- Have three or fewer years of experience in volunteer administration.
- Be employed by a recognized government entity, including federal, state, or local governments; Tribal Nations (American Indians and Alaska Natives); U.S. districts and territories; public colleges and universities; public K-12 school districts; military institutions; and public special purpose districts. Eligible individuals may also include those from contracted non-governmental organizations officially engaged by a government agency to manage or oversee volunteer programs.

Award Criteria Questions
- Describe the nominee’s leadership and innovation in volunteer administration. (Provide specific examples of their impact. 500-word limit.)
- How has the nominee demonstrated excellence in volunteer management? (Examples may include effective leadership, creative resource utilization, program improvements, or volunteer engagement strategies. 500-word limit.)
- In what ways has the nominee advocated for volunteerism in government? (Describe their contributions to policy, program expansion, or volunteer initiatives. 300-word limit.)
- How has the nominee supported and mentored volunteers or peers in the field? (Include examples of mentorship, training, or professional development efforts. 300-word limit.)
- List any additional community or volunteer contributions outside their professional role. (250-word limit.)
- Why should this nominee receive the New Volunteer Professional Award? (Summarize their achievements in a compelling statement. 500-word limit.)

Nominations must be submitted by the specified deadline. Applications will be reviewed by a judging panel consisting of NAVPLG Board members, volunteer administrators, government representatives, and invited experts.
