This course provides the knowledge content for operators to understand and implement nitrogen removal via nitrification/denitrification pathways. Operators will learn the fundamental biology and chemistry of nitrogen removal. The course provides information about process changes needed to implement nitrogen removal, operating ranges for the nitrification and denitrification stages, and how to calculate supplemental alkalinity and carbon.
