Event Registration - International Society for Children's Health and the Environment

It is a pleasure to welcome members of International Society for Children’s Health and the Environment (ISCHE) and other interested participants to our 2026 Annual Retreat.  The theme of this retreat is Place Matters: Spatial and Social Determinants of Child Health Globally. The 2026 ISCHE retreat will be held at the beautiful Sanctuary of Arantzazu, in the municipality of Oñate (Gipuzkoa) in the Basque Country. It is surrounded by astonishing nature and is home to a beautiful modern basilica built by some of the most revered Basque sculptors and architects in the 1950s. Click here to access a short video of Arantzazu and here for an inside view of the basilica. The place is also rich in opportunities for hiking and enjoying nature.

Remember that ISCHE R2A fellows will arrive on August the 25th, as August 26th is solely dedicated to R2A fellows’ activities. Regular attendees will arrive on August the 26^th, either afternoon or evening. Dinner will be served at 19:00 that day. ISCHE 20206 retreat program for all participants will take place from August the 27^th to the 29th.

When registering, please note that the registration fee covers all expenses, including accommodation, meals, and full participation in the retreat program.  Below you will find the registration fees table.

All conference rooms are double occupancy and shared; participants will later have the opportunity to indicate with whom they wish to share a room with. 

Registration will remain open until the 31st of July or until the maximum number of participants is reached. Please, note that during the registration process, once the main attendee’s information has been completed, participants will have the option to add accompanying persons under the designated Accompanying Person package.

Participants may also request group transportation by coach from either Bilbao or San Sebastián to Arantzazu, as well as transportation back after the retreat. The cost for each one‑way trip will be 30 USD. Those wishing to use this service are encouraged to plan their flight or train schedules accordingly.
