Event Description
This session will focus on the rollout of OB3 changes in 2026-27 and how we are helping students navigate changes to their federal aid in both our advising and our office policies (particularly immediate changes such as SOR, new aggregate limits, and Pell Grant cancellation for students with external aid up to COA). We will reflect on our lessons learned in fall and look ahead to planning for spring. We would also love to offer space for the audience to share their own successes, challenges, and strategies!
Presenters:
Ashlynn Nakvinda is a Financial Aid Advisor at University of Alaska Fairbanks, housed at UAF’s Community and Technical College, and current President-Elect of ALASFAA. She has been working in the UAF Financial Aid Office since she was a student worker in 2019 and has handled an assortment of roles across advising and scholarship processing.
Whitney Mueller is a Compliance Specialist in Federal Programs at University of Alaska Fairbanks and current Secretary of ALASFAA. She initially joined the UAF Financial Aid Office in 2024 and worked as an advisor prior to moving into compliance. Prior to her work in financial aid, Whitney was trained as a French instructor and earned a PhD in French literature.
