Event Description
Management of Cognitive-Communication Disorders in Post-COVID-19 Patients presented by Rebecca Bosman, M.A., CCC-SLP, George Washington University Hospital, Outpatient Rehabilitation Center. This session reviews the emerging evidence of neurological manifestations of COVID-19 and identifies how SLPs can use their unique position to maximize patient outcomes—whether as a member of an interdisciplinary team or as a solo provider. The session strives to increase clinicians’ confidence in their abilities to: identify common cognitive-communication symptoms for patients who have recovered from COVID-19, and evaluate and treat with an individualized, patient-centered approach.

Rebecca focuses on person-centered, functional approaches for neurogenic disorders and treats patients with stroke, traumatic brain injury, mild cognitive impairment, dementia, and neuromuscular diseases. Rebecca also works with individuals with head and neck cancer undergoing radiation treatment. Rebecca first began working with patients with COVID-19 in acute care in 2020 and has since helped launch the Post-COVID-19 Outpatient Recovery Clinic to serve individuals with persistent cognitive, swallowing, and voice difficulties post-COVID-19. 0.15 ASHA CEUs pending
