Culturally Responsive Teaching and High School Mathematics - VIRTUAL - Leah Dix (2021-22)
Please note: This professional learning event is only for KENTUCKY high school math teachers and coaches.  
Course Description:

This course provides an opportunity for Kentucky classroom teachers of students in Grades 9-12 to learn strategies and acquire Culturally Responsive Teaching tools to embed in their classrooms. Aligned to research-based teaching practices from Zaretta Hammond’s Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain, NCTM’s Catalyzing Change for High School, and KAS, participants will explore lesson tasks that include calculus, algebra, and geometry topics as well as, understand and create mathematics lessons for social justice.
Participants will receive books, instructional materials, and will be expected to attend all 3 "days" (6 half-day sessions) of the course. Sessions will be fully virtual, after school, and start in September 2021.
Participants must be able to fully participate in these live and interactive ZOOM meeting sessions as scheduled. Sessions will not be recorded to watch at any time. 

Cost: FREE
Duration: 6 half-day virtual sessions
All 6 sessions will meet from 3:15 - 6:15 pm EASTERN Time (which is 2:15 - 5:15 pm CENTRAL Time)

The Kentucky Center for Mathematics (KCM) is absorbing all costs associated with providing this training.
