Explorations in 3rd Grade Fractions: Muhlenberg County - Bonny Riedell (2020-21)

Event Description
Description: Third grade is a critical year in which students should develop strong foundations for understanding fractions. During this session, teachers will explore hands-on activities and tasks designed to support students in developing conceptual understandings of fractions as numbers. Teachers will deepen their understanding of the third grade fractions standards, seeing them as part of a progression starting in first grade and continuing into middle school. Participants will receive prepared materials and manipulatives, including fraction squares, Cuisenaire Rods and KNPIG (Kentucky Numeracy Project Intervention Guide) activities.

Cost: $100 per participant
Duration: 1 day


ORIGINAL NOTE: If this 1-Day Professional Learning Event (PLE) is unable to meet in person due to COVID-19 health/safety regulations, this PLE will meet virtually via two half-day ZOOM meetings. 
UPDATE 10/2/20: DUE TO COVID-19, THIS COURSE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET IN PERSON AS HOPED. THIS COURSE WILL MEET VIA 2 HALF-DAY ZOOM MEETING SESSIONS. PARTICIPANTS MUST BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THESE LIVE AND INTERACTIVE ZOOM MEETINGS DURING THE DATES AND TIMES LISTED IN THE SCHEDULE.   

SCHEDULE:
Tuesday & Wednesday, February 9 & 10, 2021.
Noon - 3 pm CENTRAL TIME (which is 1 - 4 pm EASTERN TIME) 

Registration cutoff date = 11/3/20
If this PLE meets virtually, all materials will be mailed directly to the participant's home. Please ensure that a valid home mailing address is entered into any registration. 
Once materials are ordered and shipped, the registration fee is non-refundable.
