Gala & COVID Update: The use of face masks at the 2022 Awards Gala are at the discretion of the attendee. The event will proceed as scheduled. Should the venue or local/state officials issue restrictions, the CAI Greater Houston will reevaluate holding the event. As of 12.27.21, the Omni Hotel has indicated that they do not have any plans on issuing any restrictions or cancellations.
The Omni Hotel has a covered parking garage, however, there is a fee ($10 for 0-4 hrs, $14 for 4-8 hrs); they also offer Valet Parking for a daily rate of $19.00 or $34/overnight).
A Cocktail Reception will be held between 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. After entering the lobby area, you will see a CAI “check in” table. You may check in here to find out what table you will be seated at and we will also provide each nominee with a small nominee pin to wear during the evening.
At approximately 7:15, the UPSTAIRS ballroom (Post Oak Ballroom) will be open for attendees to locate their table/seats. We will ask that all attendees be seated by 7:50 pm as the room will ‘go dark’ at 8:00 pm sharp for the Gala Video of Special Recognitions and Nominees. Immediately following the video, the waitstaff will begin serving the main course of the dinner. Tea & wine will be served during dinner and cash bars (via tickets) will also be available for other drinks.
The program will begin immediately following the video and will last until approximately 9:45/10 pm.
If you are an award winner, we will have you come up to area in front of the stage to receive your award; we will have an event photographer to take your photo just outside the ballroom right after you receive your award (award boxes may be picked up at the awards table after the event if you would like)
Following the program, guests can enjoy DJ/Dancing in the ballroom along with a quieter setting of the Whiskey Lounge near the lobby area and through the restaurant on the main floor.
COVID Concerns – while we will not be requiring masks be worn by all attendees, we do encourage anyone with concerns to please wear a mask during the event and use sound judgement if you are not feeling well or have been exposed to someone with COVID. We will have approximately 450 in attendance with approximately 10 guests at each table.
