Join us Tuesday, July 23rd for an in-depth presentation, project tour, and reception to learn more about the project-specific challenges and how teamwork, collaboration, and innovation lead to success at the National Western Center: Central Utility Plant. District Energy has existed in this country for over a hundred years.  Come learn how this old technology can help modern cities meet their carbon neutrality goals.  At the National Western Center, they are using Sewer Heat Recovery to thermally heat and cool the new buildings on their campus.

About Our Speakers:


Brad Buchanan, CEO, National Western Center
Brad Buchanan is the CEO of the National Western Center Authority. Appointed in 2018, he is responsible for crafting the 250-acre National Western Center campus into a year-round, global destination for culture, entertainment, education and agribusiness innovation. Brad has extensive experience in planning, development, agriculture, community building, entrepreneurship and organizational leadership. An architect by trade, he served as Denver’s planning director from 2014-2018 after working in design and construction in Denver for more than 25 years. He and his family own and operate Flying B Bar Ranch in Strasburg, Colorado, where they raise grass-fed cattle.

Leslie E Fangman, Principal, Fangman Associates
Leslie Fangman leverages more than 25 years of experience in the P3 infrastructure and construction industry. Leslie Fangman has been responsible for advancing strategic social infrastructure and district energy projects, strengthening client relationships and their understanding of project delivery.  She has closed P3 deals on the equity side with a lens of design, construction, and operator experience.  She has helped companies develop business development strategies and advance their geographic growth while supporting staff development. She effectively manages client relationships and serves as a client manager for major customers by supervising, mentoring, and collaborating with staff who lead client accounts. She has been COO and president of several small businesses and facilitated successful growth in revenue and profit.  She has advisory board experience to help other companies grow and succeed. She is also an educational speaker and conducts seminars and various events in the market regarding Energy Districts, Green Energy Technology, and P3 Project Delivery.  Leslie holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Montana State University.
