Speaker:   Rochelle Frank, MD, FAAN 
received her medical degree at the University of California, San Diego, attended Neurology residency at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and fellowship training in Neurophysiology at the University of California, Davis.  Currently, she works as a Clinical Professor of Neurology at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine where she started a new program in Integrative Neurology and Functional Neurologic Disorders.  Previously, she was an Associate Professor of Neurology and Neurology Clerkship Director at California Northstate University College of Medicine from 2016 to 2022 and worked as a general Neurologist at Kaiser Permanente in Roseville California from 1998 to 2016.  
 
She is board certified in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology and received additional board certifications in Integrative Medicine from the ABoIM (American Board of Integrative Medicine) in 2016 and the ABIHM in 2012.   She is the current Chair of the American Academy of Neurology Neurohealth and Integrative Neurology Section.  Her research interests include Integrative Medicine and Functional Neurologic Disorders.  She has created many programs in physician and medical student wellness, and she is currently a member of the Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society Joy of Medicine Committee, the UC Davis Wellness and DEI Committees and a founding and current member of the FND Society.

Target Audience:  Medically Based Speech-language pathologists​

Course Description:  Recent research and changes in criteria for Functional Neurological Symptom Disorder (FND) will be identified and explored. Common symptoms/presentations of FND subtypes will be discussed. Specific assessment, treatment and communication approaches with FND patients will be presented.

Learner objectives
  1. Describe recent research and changes in criteria for Functional Neurological Symptom Disorder (aka Functional Neurological Disorder/FND)
  2. Identify common symptoms and presentations of FND subtypes
  3. Review specific approaches for Speech-Language Pathology to identify and treat FND Symptoms
  4. Review effective communication approaches in treatment of FND patients

In order to receive credit for this course participants must complete the following requirements:  

  • attend entire course
    • sign in zoom conference ( phone particiaption only is not eligible for ASHA CEU's)
    • partial credits not allowed
  • complete program evaluation
    • must be completed within 7 days of completion of course
    • certificate of completion will be awarded upon receipt of program evaluation

Refund Policy
Refund requests must be submitted in writing via email. Requests made more than 10 business days prior to course date will be subject to an administration fee of $15 of the registration fee if an additional cost is associated with the course.  Membership fees will not be refunded if member is not able to attend conferences that are included with annual fee.  Refund requests made less than 10 business days prior to any course that requires an additional fee for the course are subject to a $25 administrative fee.  This is to cover the costs associated with the course that have already been accrued based on preregistration.  No refunds for non-attendance will be issued on the day of, or after, the conference.

Cancellation Policy
If MSCC cancels a course that requires an additional registration fee, all members who have prepaid for the course will be refunded the registration fee in the form of the original payment within 30 business days of the cancellation of the course.   MSCC membership fee will not be refunded.
