Course Title:  Pain Management in Optometric Practice in an Era of Opioid Abuse

Course Description:  Ocular pain is an important reason why patients seek care, especially on an emergent basis. The following interactive presentation will use a case based approach to explore the most effective means to manage pain in optometric practice including the importance of understanding addiction and the current opioid abuse epidemic. Oral pain management will be discussed with particular emphasis on the appropriate steps in prescribing oral pain medications
