Presentation : Utilizing Compaction Grouting to Stabilize and Lift Large Structures
 

Throughout the front range there have been many different ground improvement solutions that have been implemented in lieu of deeper foundations. The goal of this presentation is to introduce many different ground improvement solutions that have been implemented in the front range. While not all the solutions that exist, the solutions covered will include, deep dynamic compaction, rapid impact compaction, aggregate piers, compaction grouting, and chemical grouting. The pros and cons will be discussed in the hope that the attendee will be better equipped with what solutions work and what solutions will not work in the multitude of soil conditions that exist in this region.

Speaker: Phillip Gallet is a professional Engineer working for Keller. He started his career in geotechnical consulting working as a lab assistant in 1997 for his dad’s consulting business in Birmingham, Alabama. After graduating for Auburn University with a Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering, he began working for Hayward Baker as a Field Engineer in 2010. He was instrumental in research and development of solutions for mitigation and remediation of many expansive soils issues in Texas. In 2015 he moved to Denver, Colorado to raise his growing family. Since this time he has designed and managed many different ground improvement solutions. His current role as of January 2020 is as a the Business Development Manager for the Rocky Mountain Region.
