For 2016-17, KCM has once again partnered with the Kentucky Department of Education to offer Mathematics Content Coaching professional learning experiences (PLE).

Mathematics Content Coaching is designed to provide mathematics instructional coaches and administrators with job-embedded, learning opportunities that are aimed at initiating profound, sustainable, school-wide improvements in teaching and learning. The content coaching model works to build a school   culture that has a shared understanding of how to engage students in learning mathematics through well-designed learning tasks and activities. All participants will observe a master coach as she co-plans with a teacher, co-teaches a mathematics lesson in a classroom, and then debriefs the lesson. The intended outcome of the KCM Mathematics Content Coaching PLE is to increase student achievement in mathematics and implement successful mathematics intervention by maximizing the impact of a mathematics coach.

The administrator sessions provide administrators of instructional coaches with a better understanding of  the impact the coaching role can have on student understanding.  Administrators will also observe Master Coach Anne Burgunder as she co-plans with a teacher,  co-teaches and then debriefs a lesson. Participants  in the administrator cohort will explore effective mathematical teaching practices related to Common Core and TPGES.
