Summary:
Sharp Mesa Vista (SMV) is expanding the psychology team so that we can provide comprehensive clinical programming on THE CHILD AND ADOLESCENT INPATIENT UNIT, seven days per week. Under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, the Behavioral Health Therapist (BHT) will provide assessment and behavioral/cognitive-behavioral treatment for children and adolescents on Saturday and Sunday AND will work 4 to 6 hours on either Friday or Monday to ensure continuity with weekday programming and communication with weekday staff. The BHT will be hired as a part-time, benefitted employee and will work a minimum of 20 hours per week. The BHT also will have the option to cross train on other inpatient units, outpatient programs, intake, research, etc., with the potential to pick up additional hours (totaling no more than 40 hours per week) in areas where they have cross-trained (depending on staffing needs in those other units/programs/departments). BHT’s will be psychological assistants, through the CA Board of Psychology, under supervision of one or more of SMV’s licensed psychologists and hence will accrue hours toward licensure. Our services are provided in a home-like environment that specializes in the psychosocial rehabilitation of each individual.
Built around a bio-psychosocial approach, our multi-disciplinary team addresses each aspect of a client’s unique situation, including mental health, co-occurring substance abuse, housing, medical/medication needs, and establishing connections to social service supports within the community to facilitate successful transition beyond the START program.

Typical Duties of the Nurse – LVN
•Assist multidisciplinary team with crisis intervention, psychiatric medical assessments, case management, and medication support services
•Monitors clients’ response to medications and reports any concerns to medical staff
•Ensures that clients and family members are educated and informed about their medications and illness management
•Monitors health care needs of the clients and obtains assistance from other health care providers as necessary
•Ensures all medications are managed and stored appropriately as defined by local and state regulations

Required Skills and Qualifications
•Must possess a current CA nursing license (LVN) and First Aid/CPR certification is required and must be kept current during employment
•Ability to physically and mentally assist in emergency situations is required
•Previous experience working with a mental health population, especially with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and co-occurring disorders is strongly preferred
•Demonstrated knowledge of County Health and Human Services requirements including documentation is preferred
