Illinois Rural Water Association, in partnership with Water Treat Technology, is offering this hands-on laboratory workshop designed for water and wastewater professionals.
This workshop provides practical, hands-on experience with fundamental laboratory testing procedures and the interpretation of analytical results to support improved water and wastewater treatment operations.
All laboratory equipment, materials, and supplies required for the workshop will be provided during the program.

This course will help prepare you for the Class 1 and Class 2 Wastewater Operator state exam. Eligibility requirements can be found on this website:  https://epa.illinois.gov. This class can also be taken to obtain Renewable Training Hours (RTH) for Class 1 and 2 certificate holders.
Topics that will be covered in class include:
  • Activated Sludge
  • Chemical Addition
  • Digesters
  • Primary Treatment
  • Pumps and Pumping
  • Tertiary Treatment
Following class, students are responsible for scheduling their own exam for the Wastewater Operator Certificate through the Illinois EPA.

This class prepares individuals for certification testing as a Class C and D Public Water Supply Operator.  This class can also be taken to obtain Renewable Training Hour requirements.  Subjects include:
  • Well and distribution system operation and maintenance
  • Basic water flow hydraulics
  • Chemical dosage mathematics
  • Environmental Protection Agency laws
  • Chlorination and fluoridation
Following class, students are responsible for scheduling their own exam for the Drinking Water Operator Certificate through the Illinois EPA.
