Join us for Paddle With Purpose, part of the 101st Annual Conference, and enjoy a relaxing paddle along the scenic Bear River while supporting a great cause.

This beginner-friendly river is slow moving and typically 2–6 feet deep, making it a great option for all experience levels. Canoe and kayak rentals are provided by Bear River Canoe Livery. Your trip includes parking, life jackets (PFDs), and paddles.

Participants will meet in the Mountain Grand Lodge main lobby at 11:45 AM. Transportation is not provided, so carpooling is encouraged. The launch site is approximately a 5-minute drive from the resort.

Solo Kayak: $65 (includes $40 rental + $25 donation to Water For People)
Two-Person Canoe: $100 (includes $50 rental + $25 per person donation)

Proceeds from this event support Water For People, whose mission is to provide access to safe drinking water and sanitation services through sustainable, community-driven solutions.

The 2026 retreat will be held Tuesday July 28th and Wednesday, July 29th at the Four Points by Sheraton Detroit Novi. It will start with a networking lunch on the 28th, followed by an invigorating agenda focused on personal development and improvement of various leadership skills in the afternoon and an evening of food, fun & networking. Day two will start with breakfast, more focus on leadership skills and will end with lunch. It is an invitation only event intended for Committee Chairs & Vice Chairs, Board members, Instructors, Staff and a few additional guests who have expressed interest in organizational leadership.

This event will be held on Friday, August 14th at Comerica Park in Detroit. The evening will begin inside the stadium at GRP Picnic Party Deck 1, where we wil enjoy a nice ballpark meal. We will then make our way down to our seats to watch the first pitch. Following the game, we encourage you to stay to watch the spectacular Friday fireworks show!

This celebration is for our MWEA/WEF members and vendors. You may also choose to bring up to 2 additional guests at an additional cost. Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are a large and complex class of anthropogenic compounds whose widespread presence in the environment continues to be a critical and evolving concern for both environmental and human health.

The MWEA PFAS Committee, now combined with the Biosolids Committee, will host this seminar, bringing together experts from across the state to share the latest insights and developments. Presentations will explore emerging PFAS science, including chemical properties, fate and transport, and best practices for sampling and analysis. Additional focus areas will include regulatory updates, legislative initiatives, risk assessment, and real-world impact scenarios, with an added emphasis on biosolids management within the municipal wastewater cycle.

This seminar offers a valuable opportunity to stay informed, exchange ideas, and engage in meaningful discussions around one of Michigan’s most pressing environmental challenges. Join us to be part of the conversation shaping the future of water quality and resource management.

Save-the-Date for the 2027 Joint Expo & Operator Days - Feb 9 & 10 in Lansing!

All drinking water and wastewater employees, including operators, supervisors, lab techs, maintenance techs and superintendents should plan to attend this annual training event. Two days of quality content in both Technical AND Managerial, followed by access to the expo hall floor with over 150 vendors! Also use this link if you are only coming for the expo hall to walk the floor.
