Message From the Board

Happy Summer, friends! We hope you’re finding time to relax and recharge -maybe even escape a little of Atlanta’s summer heat!

While many of us have been traveling or enjoying summer projects, our Focus Area Committees have been working diligently behind the scenes. Together, they’ve reviewed 129 letters of intent, 38 full applications, and countless financial documents - all with the goal of thoughtfully and equitably advancing projects for your ultimate review and vote. This process is a cornerstone of our mission, and we’re deeply grateful to the incredible 101 women dedicating their time and expertise to ensure our grants create meaningful impact across Atlanta.

We are wrapping up application review and preparing for site visits in August, meeting with 3–4 nonprofit finalists in each focus area to learn more about their vision and explore how our collective giving could help transform their work.

Thank you to everyone contributing time, energy, and heart to this process! We can’t wait to share the results of these efforts as we approach Finalist Presentations and our big vote in November. Stay tuned—impact is on the horizon!

Warmly,

MacKensie Brandt, Grants Chair, Focus Areas

Leadership Transition Update

We want to share an important update with our Impact100 Atlanta community: Sherrhonda Roach has recently made the decision to step down as President of Impact100 Atlanta. Like so many women who lead in both their families and communities, Sherrhonda found herself in a season where personal responsibilities needed to come first. With care and clarity, she made the decision to step aside so that our important work could continue with forward momentum.

Sherrhonda was a founding board member of Impact100 Atlanta and instrumental in shaping the direction and success of our chapter. Her tenure as President has been marked by heart, vision, and deep commitment. Under her leadership, Impact100 Atlanta is set to surpass the $1 million mark in transformational grants awarded to nonprofits across our city. She helped build a strong and connected community and inspired countless women to be part of something bigger than themselves. Sherrhonda brought together incredible women who give their time, hearts, and treasures to lift up our community. While she is stepping back from a leadership role, she remains an engaged member and a passionate advocate for Impact100 Atlanta and the nonprofit partners we serve.

Laurie Sheehan, who has been serving as Vice President, has assumed the role of President. Laurie has already been leading with clarity and care during Sherrhonda’s recent absence, ensuring that our work has continued without pause. She brings deep dedication, steady leadership, and a love for Impact100 that is felt across our entire board. We are confident that our chapter remains in excellent hands.  Please join us in thanking Sherrhonda for her heartfelt leadership—and in supporting Laurie and our entire board as we carry this mission forward, together.

Empty Stocking Fund Student Supply Kits Blitz and Ribbon Cutting

Earlier this summer, Impact100 Atlanta members volunteered at the warehouse of our 2024 grantee, the Empty Stocking Fund (ESF), to help assemble school supply kits for more than 1,100 students across metro Atlanta. It was meaningful, fun, and incredibly productive—we even set a new (though possibly unofficial) record for the number of kits completed during a single shift!

Our members brought their signature mix of determination and joy to the task—working hard, laughing often, and staying focused on the goal of helping students start the school year strong. After packing the kits, volunteers joined ESF staff and supporters for a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the launch of the Education Express, a mobile supply delivery vehicle powered by the $110,000 grant awarded by Impact100 Atlanta last year.  This Purposeful Pop Up captured so much of what makes Impact100 Atlanta special: community, purpose, and a whole lot of heart (and hustle).

We are grateful for this meaningful partnership with ESF and their commitment to empowering teachers and students by ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.
