Your Feedback Wanted on Diagnostic Improvement Tool for Patients |
The WPSC’s Improving the Diagnostic Process workgroup designed a simple questionnaire patients can use to prepare for visits and help them communicate better with providers. We would like to know what you, your family, friends, and colleagues think of it. If you work for a healthcare system, we would like to have this tool critiqued by your patient and family advisory council (PFAC). This is a draft. After your input, we will test it and finish the tool. We are working on how to make it available. Here are the details: -
What: A resource for patients to use before a visit with a healthcare provider.
- Why: Thoughtful preparation will improve communication between patients and providers and help them work together to arrive at a diagnosis.
-
What we wanted to do: 1. Keep it simple. 2. Focus on “before” and “during” the visit. 3. Design it for patient use.
- Background: The tool was created by the workgroup surveying existing materials from reliable sources e.g., AHRQ, Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine, Kaiser, and others.

In this session, we will hear from Dr. Leo Morales, MD, PhD, MPH, the founding co-director of the Latino Center for Health at the University of Washington, on how, in his practice, he has supported the partnership of communities and healthcare systems to promote wellness of all Latinos in Washington state.
