Greeting Dear Friends!

Wow!!  Our May 17, 75th Anniversary Celebration Wendella Cruise was ……. AMAZING!!  It was an interesting, educational & fun event, and, with over 100 registrants, very rewarding to the many people involved over the past few months in planning this event!  Sincere thanks to our Steering Committee members & assistants, our Shedd Aquarium speakers, Lisa Junkin Lopez & Dr. Chuck Knapp, our river expert, Dick Lanyon, our Wendella crew, our caterer, our photographer, Ted Denning, and especially our cruise participants – you really are helping to keep IWWSG alive and well!  Several cruise photos are attached in the photo recap below, but we hope you will go to our website, www.iwwsg.org, to check out ALL of Ted’s cruise photos as well as photos provided by Amit Mittal.

And yes, since the cruise was also IWWSG’s Annual Membership Meeting, some important business was also conducted.  Voting for the Group’s 22’-23’ Steering Committee was completed, as was a vote on proposed amendments to our By-Laws.  The voting results are summarized below.

And, don’t forget to mark your calendars now for the fast approaching final event of our 75th Anniversary Year – our first ever Golf Outing, at Silver Lake Country Club in Orland Park on Monday, June 26th!!  Registration for both sponsors & golfers is now open at our website, www.iwwsg.org.  Please check out the event details below.

We look forward to seeing all of you at Silver Lake Country Club on June 26!!!  We need and appreciate your paid memberships, attendance at meetings/events, and other support.  Thank you!!

Hope to see you soon!

Best Regards,

Barb Scapardine

Approved By-Laws Amendments

Recently, the IWWSG Steering Committee completed a review of its current (Approved 05/18/16) By-Laws (BL’s) for the purposes of assuring they were up-to-date to reflect the changing times, such as being able to use electronic means to vote, to hold virtual meetings, to overall meet today’s governance needs, etc.  The proposed amendments, excluding grammatical and minor procedural changes, are summarized below.

1. Article IV:  Membership and Dues

Currently, the BL’s specify three classes of Membership [Company, Individual & Honorary].  It is proposed to have five classes of Membership [Company, Individual, Honorary, Emeritus & Other (Not-for-Profits & Associations)].

2. Article VI:  Steering Committee

Currently, the BL’s specify that there will be eleven (11) elected members of the Steering Committee.  It is proposed to have twelve (12) elected members of the Steering Committee.

3. Article IX:  Nominations, Voting and Elections

The proposed amendments further define and formalize the voting and vote-counting procedures.

4. Article XI:  Contracts, Checks, Deposits and Funds

To lessen the opportunity for outside fraudulent monetary transfers, the proposed amendments prohibit electronic fund transfers to anyone other than current Steering Committee members.  Receipts of electronic fund transfers by IWWSG are acceptable.

5. Article XIV:  Amendments to By-Laws

The proposed amendments further define and formalize the BL’s amendment process, including the voting procedure.

Members attending IWWSG’s May 17 Annual Meeting (our 75th Anniversary Celebration Wendella cruise) voted and approved the proposed amendments.

A full copy of IWWSG’s May 17, 2023 By-Laws, including approved amendments, are available upon email request.  Please contact Barbara Scapardine, IWWSG Chair at membership@iwwsg.org to request a copy.
