February 15 IWWSG Meeting – Recap & Photos |
Meeting “last call”! Evening program cancelled! Meeting called off! Meeting back on! …….. but in the end, success!! When, on the day before the event, our evening’s planned presentation on pollution prevention & energy efficiency had to be cancelled because of an unexpected development, we thought we would try, for the first time ever, an “open mic” event. And, although we aren’t a comedy club, I learned it worked out surprisingly well! Each of the 20+ attendees had his/her opportunity at the mic to introduce themselves and talk about whatever they so desired (while being back-dropped by a large-screen slide program featuring spectacular photos by Steering Committee Member Ted Denning!). Attendees met new professionals, learned about their backgrounds & work, were entertained by their recollections of being “in the trenches”, and even moved by some of the heartwarming stories. Also, not to be overlooked, Chuck’s Southern Comfort food was excellent!
