Ohio Section AWWA - Fernald Nature Preserve Tour

Ohio Section AWWA Young Professionals will proudly be hosting a facility tour of Fernald Nature Preserve in Hamilton, Ohio on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Two Ohio EPA contact hours for water / wastewater will be available for this free event! An after-tour social at a local restaurant will follow, with location to be announced.

For those unfamiliar with the site, Fernald produced high-grade uranium-metal products for the nation's nuclear weapons program. It was the site of a $4.4 billion dollar plus clean-up effort. As part of the tour, we will be visiting Fernald's Converted Advanced Wastewater Treatment Facility (CAWWT) and learn about its operations, as well as groundwater remediation efforts.
