In 1990, Douglas County Libraries was the worst public library in the state. By 2006, by following a simple model of library development, it was ranked as number one in the nation for its population size. But then it made a surprising discovery, one that required a much deeper understanding of the ingredients of excellence. And that discovery goes to the latest research in how our brains work. Come learn about the power of story.

Presenter:
Jamie LaRue is author of “The New Inquisition: Understanding the Managing Intellectual Freedom Challenges” (Libraries Unlimited, 2007). He has won various awards: Colorado Librarian of the Year, Castle Rock Businessperson of the Year, the Julie Boucher (boo-SHAY) Intellectual Freedom Award, and Colorado Association of Libraries’ Career Achievement Award. Director of the Douglas County (Colo.) Libraries for 23 years, he is now a full-time thought leader (writer, speaker, consultant).
